Marc Couturier Ph.D., D(ABMM) is a Professor of Pathology at the University of Utah and a medical director at ARUP Laboratories in the Infectious Disease laboratory division. Dr. Couturier is the director of the clinical parasitology and infectious disease rapid antigen and molecular testing laboratories. He is also the director of Emerging Public Health Crises. Dr. Couturier is also the Fellowship director for the CPEP Medical Microbiology fellowship program.

Dr. Couturier received his B.ScH in Biology from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada where he gained broad experience in bacteriology and parasitology. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology, with specialization in bacteriology from the University of Alberta. After completion of his Ph.D., he completed a public health post-doctoral fellowship in the Alberta Provincial Laboratory for Public Health, developing molecular diagnostics for stool pathogens. Dr. Couturier completed a CPEP-approved Medical Microbiology fellowship at the University of Utah, where he further focused and developed his expertise in gastrointestinal pathogens and specifically parasitology.
