SUMMARY:Seegene Webinar | Is it time for Syndromic testing for Genital Ulcers?
DESCRIPTION:Seegene Webinar | Is it time for Syndromic testing for Genital Ulcers?\n»Register Here\nCurrently\, testing of genital ulcers is commonly limited to molecular methods for HSV and VZV. Serologic methods for Syphilis using treponemal and non-treponemal tests (VDRL\, RPR\, and TP-PA) are in routine use for many labs. Even though PCR often typically offers increased sensitivity and good specificity but has been used in a limited fashion to date based on questions of performance when applied to Syphilis. We’ll review testing approaches today and discuss the future potential of new methods when considering a syndromic approach. \nGuest Speaker: Marty K. Soehnlen\, PhD\, MPH\, PHLD(ABB) \nDr. Marty Soehnlen is the Director of Infectious Disease at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services\, Bureau of Laboratories. Dr. Soehnlen received her BS in Medical Technology from Ohio State University\, followed by an MPH in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology. She then joined the Center for Disease Control and Prevention as an APHL/CDC Class XII Emerging Infectious Disease Fellow. After her fellowship\, Dr. Soehnlen completed her Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University in Pathobiology\, then spent 4 years in Landstuhl\, Germany as the Chief of the Micro & Molecular Biology Division of the US Army Public Health Command Region Europe\, before joining MDPHHS in 2015. \nLearning Objectives: After participating in this session\, attendees will be able to: \n\nDescribe current genital ulcer trends and testing methods.\nExplain current approaches\, as well as the future potential of new testing methods.\nDiscuss and evaluate the value of syndromic approaches to genital ulcer testing.\n\n  \n»Register Here
